I apologize if talking about non-plexamp solutions is taboo here, but I would absolutely go full plexamp if it could cast gapless audio to chromecast. I don't know of any other way to cast multiroom gapless audio to existing chromecast devices from a NAS. Sometimes I need to restart the plugin if it's been a day or two since I last cast audio, and that's the only issue I've encountered. Their chromecast bridge plugin is almost flawless and has an option for casting music as a gapless audio stream. For casting audio over chromecast at home however, I use Logitech Music Server running on a NAS. Currently I use plexamp on my phone for bluetooth headphones, car, etc, and also use it on my laptop when at work. Plexamp also runs on macOS, Windows, Linus. For example, the Plex app on my LG webOS TV is basically Plexamp, the music player originally incubated. I ended up using plexamp for some use cases and Logitech Music Server for others. The Plexamp app has been well-received following its debut, maintaining a 4.8 out of 5-star rating on the App Store and a 4.7 rating on Google Play. On my Roku tv it will auto transcode aac to AC3 5. Could the Roku Plex Channel control it and get me its features on my TV without you having to reimplement on Roku I can imagine clicking into PlexAmp instead of Music (Library) in the Plex Roku Channel, but all the magic happens on the server. I definitely went through the landscape of options and setups a few months ago trying to find a decently simple way to cast gapless audio to multiple chromecast devices. I see there's a headless PlexAmp for Linux.
